Bad debt

I need to know how to write off bad debt. Which accounts to use and whether it is a journal entry or other?
Also have a credit from the government and need to know how to put it on the books and which accounts to use again.
This is my first attemp at using this and do so hope it works.

You will need to contact your proffessor about coursework questions and what accounts to use.
We all know that debt is basically bad and money is essentially bad. Ergo, one should have more of the latter than the previous but few are able to stick to that concept.
